What is Microblading, Micropigmentation, Combo, Brows, Ombre Brows

Combo Brows combines Microblading with Micropigmentation/Ombre shading, hence the name “Combo Brow.” This procecure adds hairlike strokes to the brows AND shading. This service is suitable for dry to combination skin types and for those wanting a natural look.

Microblading is a semi-permanent cosmetic tattoo that uses a handheld tool to scratch pigment into the skin to create thin hairlike strokes on the brow area. Microblading lasts 8-12 months, with a yearly touchup recommended.

This service is suitable for dry to combination skin types and for those wanting a natural look. If you have sparser brows, you may need shading (Micropigmentation) to achieve your desired results.

Ombre Brows = Micropigmentation
Micropigmentation is semi-permanent eyebrow tattoo that uses a tattoo machine to create a filled in brow look. Micropigmentation lasts 3-5 years, and touchups can be done anywhere from 1-3 years to upkeep your desired brow look.

This service is suitable for all skin types, and is a better option for oilier skin types than Microblading. Micropigmentation is also known as “Powder/Ombre Brows,” with the darkest pigment saturation being at the tail of the brows and fading into the front of the brows. This service is suitable for clients with sparser brows  wanting a makeup look, however, a natural look can still be achieved, using your natural brow hairs and focused shading to mimic the look of a tinted brow and fill in any bald areas.

Who is an ideal candidate for PMU? (Contraindications)

• must be over 18 years old
 • not pregnant or breastfeeding
 • not on medication that causes blood to thin
 • not on Accutane, or stopped the use of prescribed retinols for at least 6 months to a year 
 • stopped use of any medicated topical acne treatments prior to your appointment, contact me for specific answers about your medication
 • skin on brow area is not recently scarred, damaged
 • no active acne on brow area 
 • not prone to keloid scarring  
 • not allergic to any tints, pigments, inks
 • not currently undergoing chemotherapy (12 month minimum)  
 • not currently fighting off any infections, colds, flus  
 • clients on thyroid medication/high blood pressure medications (not blood thinners) can get this procedure done, but may require more touch ups to get their desired results

PMU candidates also understand:
 • PMU is a two-step procedure, and you must agree to returning for an initial touch up 6-8 weeks following your first session 
 • that every artist has different styles and techniques of PMU, and has done the proper research of my natural PMU style 
 • understand that with with my natural PMU style, we use your natural brow hairs and facial features to determine the perfect shape for you, and cannot tattoo any trending, dark, unnatural brow shapes that do not align with your features
 • PMU brows require a monthly brow shaping to upkeep them 
 • PMU will last anywhere from 1-5 years without a touch up, depending on many factors such as age, skin type, lifestyle, health conditions, and your personal preferences
 • their responsibility to follow the aftercare procedures accurately
 • new clients coming in with any previous brow pmu must have faded enough for the artist to be able to retouch them, 
 • clients coming in with previous work that is too dark due to improper techniques of the previous artist will be referred to laser removal
 • tattoos heal and look different on others, your desired look may need another touch up after the initial touch up to reach your desired results

What can I expect at my PMU appointment?

A consent form will be filled out at the beginning of the service to ensure you are a candidate for pmu and that you have followed the proper pre care. Every appointment starts with a thorough brow consultation where we talk about your brow goals, expectations, and I will be able to answer any questions you may have regarding the procedure.

A brow shape will be professionally measured and mapped out with regard to your natural brow shape and desired look. Any excess hair around the brow area will be removed by hard wax/a razor. I will create a gorgeous outline of the brow called a "pre-draw," which will be the template I will follow for the tattoo portion.

Clients are able to make tweaks and suggest minor changes to the pre-draw, and combined with my expertise, we will have created the perfect brow shape for your face.

Once satisfied with the pre-draw, the tattoo procedure will begin with an outline. The outline is done without numbing, but don't worry, outlining is very very low on the pain scale and clients say it can range from a 1-3 out of 10 in discomfort.

Shaping can take anywhere from 30 mins to an hour, as the pre'draw is the most important part of the service. The microblading/ombre shading will take anywhere from 1-2 hours.

Post care instructions will be explained, and you will be sent home with your post care products to ensure your brows heal optimally. Note that after your procedure, your brows will appear dark and the skin will be slightly red and swollen. However, just as we explain in your consultation, this is a normal part of your pmu experience.
